WorldView-2 completes instrument integration

DigitalGlobe announced that the WorldView-2 remote sensing instrument, provided by ITT Corporation’s Space Systems Division, has been integrated by Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. into the WorldView-2 spacecraft and system-level testing has commenced.

NASA, ESA plan to combine outer planet missions

At a meeting in Washington last week, NASA and ESA officials decided to continue pursuing studies of a mission to Jupiter and its four largest moons, and to plan for another potential mission to visit Saturn’s largest moon Titan and Enceladus.

China plans to launch next-gen oceanographic satellite 2010

China plans to launch a third ocean survey satellite in 2010 to upgrade its capacity for maritime weather forecasting and disaster relief, according to a report in an official publication of the country’s Ministry of Science and Technology.

VIIRS passes vibration test

A primary operational and science instrument for the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) has passed a key environmental test at Northrop Grumman Corporation’s subcontractor, Raytheon Company.

Iran announces yet another satellite

The head of Iran’s Aerospace Organisation, Reza Taqipour, said that Iran will build the Muslim world a satellite called Besharat and that the country has completed the project’s feasibility studies.
