Northrop Grumman Corporation announced that its Cygnus spacecraft has successfully unberthed and departed from the International Space Station (ISS), beginning its secondary mission before it reenters Earth’s atmosphere. The NG-11 Cygnus spacecraft left the ISS after a 109 day stay at the station.

The Ariane 5 for Arianespace’s upcoming mission from French Guiana is now fully-assembled following integration of its two satellite passengers: Intelsat 39 and EDRS-C – both of which will be delivered to geostationary transfer orbit on a flight scheduled for 6 August.

Airbus has been selected by the European Space Agency to build the European component of the SMILE satellite (Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer). SMILE will be the first joint satellite mission between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), following on from the success of the Double Star / Tan Ce mission which flew between 2003 and 2008.

Russia’s cargo spacecraft Progress MS-11, which separated from the International Space Station earlier on Monday, has been dumped in the southern part of the Pacific Ocean, the press-service of the Central Research Institute of Machine Building TsNIIMash said.
