NASA extends Space Shuttle Main Engine contract

NASA has signed a US$975 million contract extension with Pratt and Whitney Rocketdyne Inc. to maintain the agency’s fleet of Space Shuttle Main Engines (SSMEs) until the orbiter is retired in 2010.

Total loss of NRO-L21 highlights U.S. spy satellite problems

The U.S. National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) has given up attempts to contact an experimental military satellite launched last December, Reuters reported citing unnamed defence officials. In addition, the NRO Director has recommended scrapping two multibillion-dollar spy satellite programmes.
