More confusion about Galileo figures

German weekly Der Spiegel quoted a confidential Berlin government report as forecasting that the Galileo navigation satellite system will cost at least EUR1.5 billion more than the EU Commission believes. The report was rejected by the German government as well as by the Commission.

Measat relocates, rededicates, renames satellite oldie

Measat Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd, Malaysia, announced the expansion of its satellite network into Africa with the commissioning of the Africasat-1 (f.k.a. MEASAT-1) satellite at the 46 degrees East orbital location.

Thor 5 arrives at Baikonur

The Thor 5 (a.k.a. Thor II-R) telecommunications satellite, built by Orbital Science Corporation for Telenor of Norway, has arrived in Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, where it will be readied for its February launch atop a Proton.

Next attempt to launch Thuraya-3 on 15 January

The Sea Launch team has arrived at its launch site on the Equator and is preparing for the launch of the Thuraya-3 mobile communications satellite aboard a Zenit-3SL on 15 January.
