Creditors give WorldSpace one more month to pay

WorldSpace Satellite Radio said creditors have agreed to defer until 30 June 2008 the company’s obligation to pay US$17.7 million.

Newtec improves efficiency level of Russian satellites

Newtec said that satellite transmission tests using Newtec Azimuth equipment and carried out with Russian operators, RSCC and Gascom, have demonstrated performance and bandwidth efficiency set to rival that of even the most advanced international satellites.

Northrop Grumman to modify CERES sensor

Northrop Grumman Corporation was awarded a contract by NASA Langley Research Center to make modifications to the Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES) sensor, which will be integrated onto the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) Preparatory Mission (NPP), scheduled for launch by NASA in 2010.

NASA selects MIT-led team to develop planet-searching satellite

A planet-searching satellite planned by scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and NASA-Ames is one of six proposed spacecraft concepts that NASA has picked for further study as part of its Small Explorer (SMEX) satellite programme.

GMV to support Brasilsat B1-B4 satellites

GMV has been selected by Star One to upgrade the Brasilsat Satellite Control Facility for the Brasilsat B1, B2, B3 and B4 satellites, all of which are Boeing 376W “spinners”. This contract is GMV’s first contract with Star One, the largest satellite operator based in South America.

Star One C2 operational in orbit

Following the Final Acceptance Review (FAR) successfully held in May, the control of Star One C2 telecommunication satellite has been transferred to Star One and is now operational in geostationary orbit at 70 degrees West.

Thales Alenia Space wins Nilesat-201 satellite contract

Thales Alenia Space announced the signature of a contract with Nilesat, the Egyptian satellite company, to provide the Nilesat-201 broadcasting communication satellite and associated services and ground stations.
