Loral Space & Communications Inc. announced its financial results for the three months ending 30 September 2008. It also appears that the company’s satellite manufacturing unit, SS/L, may recently have received an order that has not been announced so far.

Thaicom PCL reported financial results for the third quarter 2008 and said it would rent its next satellite instead of ordering a new one.

Spirent Communications plc announced the world’s first RF constellation simulator that supports the Japanese Quasi Zenith Satellite System (QZSS). Spirent GSS800 now supports QZSS system in addition to GPS, GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and SBAS.

The first orbit reduction manoeuvre of the Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft which is orbiting the moon, was successfully performed on 9 November 2008. The satellite had entered lunar orbit the day before.

NASA’s Phoenix Mars Lander has ceased communications after operating for more than five months.
