China launches new remote sensing satellite

Rocket: Chang Zheng 4B; Payload: Zi Yuan 3 [ZY-3], VesselSat 2; Date: 9 January 2012, 0317 UTC; Launch site: Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, China. The remote-sensing satellite, which had a lift-off mass of 2,650 kg, entered an orbit of 500 km above the Earth about 12 minutes after it was launched.
