Canada to join WGS system, pay for ninth satellite

Canada has joined the United States’ Wideband Global Satellite (WGS) Communications System. The move is to fill the strategic satellite communications requirements of the Canadian Forces over the next 20 years.

DARPA’s Galileo to image objects in geosynchronous orbit faster

U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) announced a programme dubbed Galileo that seeks to bridge the precision fibre optic controls and long-baseline astronomical interferometry technical communities to enable imaging of objects in geostationary orbit faster than is possible today.

Georgian DTH platform on Astra

SES and Georgian mobile and telecommunication company MagtiCom announced the launch of MagtiSat, Georgia’s first domestic direct-to-home (DTH) satellite platform, via Astra. The pay-TV offer will be available beginning 23 January 2012.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister takes FG investigation under ‘personal control’

Antwerp Space signed a contract for developing OMNISAT-G3
