Sounding rocket launched to calibrate SDO instrument

NASA successfully launched a Black Brant IX sounding rocket on 21 October at 1800 UTC from the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, carrying instrumentation to support the calibration of the EUV Variability Experiment (EVE) aboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) satellite.
