Hughes to use high-throughput capacity on Eutelsat 65 West A

Eutelsat do Brasil, the Brazilian affiliate of Eutelsat Communications announced that they have concluded a 15-year contract with Hughes Network Systems do Brasil (Hughes), an EchoStar company, for the entire Ka-band capacity connected to the Brazilian service area on the Eutelsat 65 West A satellite.

Amazonas 4A problem permanent; other satellites not affected

According to satellite maker Orbital Sciences Corp., the capacity of the recently launched Amazonas 4A will likely be permanently reduced owing to a power subsystem failure detected during in-orbit testing. The company does not expect a similar failure to occur aboard other satellites.

Final Vega checkout to begin

Falcon 9 lifts off on CRS-3 mission

Rocket: Falcon 9 v1.1; Payload: Dragon; Date: 18 April 2014, 1925 UTC; Launch site: Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, USA. The launch of the third SpaceX commercial resupply services mission (CRS-3) sent the Dragon space freighter on a course to rendezvous with the station on Sunday, 20 April.
