First Soyuz MS in orbit

Rocket: Soyuz-FG; Payload: Soyuz MS-01; Date: 7 July 2016, 0336 UTC; Launch site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The first crewed transportation spacecraft of the new Soyuz MS series was successfully put into a low Earth orbit and is headed for the International Space Station (ISS).

Curiosity rover enters precautionary safe mode

NASA’s Curiosity Mars rover put itself into safe mode on 2 July, ceasing most activities other than keeping itself healthy and following a prescribed sequence for resuming communications.
