Arianespace to launch Germany’s Heinrich Hertz satellite

The DLR German Aerospace Center, OHB SE and Arianespace have announced the signing of a launch contract for Germany’s Heinrich Hertz (H2Sat) technology demonstrator satellite built by OHB System AG.

ArianeGroup signs contract with ESA for future Prometheus engine

Prometheus is a European demonstrator for a very low cost reusable engine, running on liquid oxygen (LOx) and methane. It is the precursor for future European launcher engines as of 2030.

Vector and Astro Digital join forces for dedicated launch

Vector, a nanosatellite launch company, announced that it will join forces with Astro Digital to conduct a dedicated launch in 2018 featuring one of Astro Digital’s satellites for remote sensing applications.

RUAG Space will continue to build the brain of each Galileo satellite

OHB System AG, which is the prime contractor for the Galileo satellites, has now tasked RUAG Space to produce an additional 12 Control and Data Units for Galileo. The delivery of these products will take place between November 2018 to October 2019.

Thales Alenia Space to support human spaceflight in vicinity of the Moon

Thales Alenia Space has signed three contracts in the frame of Next Space Technologies for Exploration Partnerships (NextSTEP-2) activities with Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Orbital-ATK, to develop capabilities that can meet NASA human space exploration objectives while also supporting industry commercialisation plans.

Airbus selected for Copernicus Data and Information Access Service

Airbus has been selected by the European Space Agency (ESA) to be one of four suppliers for DIAS, the Copernicus Data and Information Access Service. DIAS will make data and information easily available to users through a cloud computing architecture enabling enhanced coordination and cross-fertilisation at European Union (EU) level and amongst initiatives at Member State or regional level.

SES drives 5G satellite demonstration testbed initiative with ESA

SES said it is expanding its efforts to support 5G developments as part of ESA’s ARTES project, SATis5, where it will be enabling demonstrations of satellite-terrestrial integration for 5G networks.
