Proton-M lofts Gazprom’s Yamal-601 (part I)

Rocket: Proton M/Briz M; Payload: Yamal-601; Date: 30 May 2019, 1742 UTC; Launch site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. Separation of the Yamal 601 satellite from the Briz M upper stage is scheduled more than nine hours into the mission, at 0255 UTC (too late for this issue).

Inmarsat orders 3 new GX satellites from Airbus

Airbus has signed a contract with Inmarsat to design, manufacture and build the first in their next generation of geostationary Ka-band satellites, Inmarsat GX7, 8 & 9. The three satellites are the first to be based on Airbus’ new OneSat product line, which is fully reconfigurable in orbit.

Northrop Grumman finishes environmental test on JWST

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope Spacecraft Element (SCE) successfully completed its last environmental test, thermal vacuum testing, at Northrop Grumman Corporation in Redondo Beach.

ExoMars 2020 Rover Operations Control Centre inaugurated

The ExoMars 2020 Rover Operations Control Center (ROCC) was inaugurated by Thales Alenia Space (the joint venture between Thales 67% and Leonardo 33%), ALTEC (Aerospace Logistics Technology Engineering Company), the Italian space agency ASI and the European Space Agency (ESA). It is located on the premises of ALTEC, an engineering and logistics services joint venture between Thales Alenia Space and ASI.

Pentagon to ban U.S. companies from using Russian rockets, satellites

The Pentagon has introduced restrictions that will prevent U.S. companies from using Russian space rocket launches and satellite services, set to take effect in 2023.
