Inmarsat shareholders back US$3.4 billion takeover

Investors in Inmarsat voted to sell the British satellite firm to a private equity-led consortium for US$3.4 billion following a recommendation from the company’s board that the offer was fair and reasonable.

Arianespace to launch ESAIL satellite for exactEarth on Vega

Arianespace announced that it has been selected by exactEarth to launch the ESAIL satellite using a Vega as part of the launcher’s Small Spacecraft Mission Service (SSMS) Proof of Concept (POC) flight.

Thales Alenia Space marks key milestone in ExoMars 2020 mission

The Analytical Laboratory Drawer (ALD), the core of the Rover of the ExoMars 2020 ESA Program, has been successfully integrated and tested by Thales Alenia Space in its facility in Torino, Italy. Now it is ready to be integrated inside the Rover named Rosalind Franklin that is provided by Airbus Defense and Space in UK.

Yahsat and Hughes form satellite services joint venture in Brazil

Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat) and Hughes Network Systems, LLC announced an agreement to enter into a joint venture to provide commercial Ka-band satellite broadband services in Brazil. Hughes will hold the majority interest in the joint venture.

Liquid oxygen-methane engine assembled in east China

A Chinese company has assembled a liquid oxygen-methane engine in Huzhou, east China’s Zhejiang Province. The TQ-12 engine, independently developed by private rocket-maker LandSpace over the past two years, is a new generation power system for rockets. Its main components, the thrust chamber, gas generator, turbopump and valve have passed tests.
