QuikSCAT completes eighth year in orbit

The Quick Scatterometer (QuikSCAT) satellite built by Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. completed eight years of on-orbit operations, performing six years beyond its minimum two-year mission requirement.

Aqua celebrates fifth anniversary in orbit

NASA’s Aqua satellite, built by Northrop Grumman Corporation , marked its fifth year on-orbit today observing the Earth’s water systems, producing a massive data flow that is giving the world’s scientists insight into the Earth’s climate.

CloudSat celebrates one year in orbit

CloudSat, a satellite mission conceived by Colorado State University scientist Graeme Stephens, celebrated its first anniversary on 28 April as the world’s most sensitive cloud-profiling radar in orbit.

Fifth anniversary of first commercial Rokot launch

On 17 March 2002 Russia-built lightweight Rokot rocket blasted off from Plesetsk Cosmodrome, in Northern Russia, carrying two NASA/DLR science Grace spacecraft. The twin GRACE satellites were successfully deployed into a near polar orbit.

TIMED celebrates five-year anniversary
