50 years of U.S. space based military weather satellite systems

The U.S. Defense Weather Systems Directorate is celebrating 50 years of the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program. Ten years of Meteosat Second Generation

When the first Meteosat Second Generation satellite, Meteosat-8, was launched on 28 August 2002 it heralded a new era of discovery for meteorologists. Metop-A completes 30,000th orbit

Lockheed Martin marks Landsat 40th anniversary

Forty years ago today, the Earth Resources Technology Satellite (ERTS) – later renamed Landsat – was launched. Five more Landsat spacecraft would reach orbit during the next 27 years. All were launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base into near-polar orbits allowing them to image the entire Earth, one slice at a time, as it rotated below.

Gonets-D satellites celebrate 20th anniversary

Goodrich’s ORS-1 satellite completes its first year in space

Goodrich Corporation : announced that the ORS-1 satellite has celebrated its first anniversary in space. Orbital celebrates 30th anniversary of company’s founding
