Pseudo-satellites allow accurate navigation in Helsinki harbour

Pseudo-satellites, ground-based substitutes used when signals from ‘real’ satellites are not available, can deliver accurate positioning information in places where conventional solutions fail. This was demonstrated on 27 June in Helsinki harbour as part of a project supported by ESA.

Canadian space manipulator arrives at KSC

Dextre, the special purpose dexterous manipulator developed by MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. under contract from the Canadian Space Agency, has been delivered to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Astrium plans vehicle for space tourists

Astrium has unveiled a new vehicle for space tourism at a special VIP event in Paris ahead of the Le Bourget Airshow. This business jet sized vehicle is designed to carry four passengers 100 km up into space giving more than three minutes of “zero G” or weightlessness.

Europe acknowledges that Galileo can have military applications
