LightSquared announces additional financing

LightSquared announced it has closed on US$586 million of debt, led by UBS AG and JP Morgan. LightSquared will use the proceeds of the financing for general corporate purposes, which include constructing its 4G-LTE-wholesale network.

EchoStar Corporation to buy Hughes Communications, Inc.

EchoStar Corporation plans to acquire all of the outstanding equity of Hughes Communications, Inc. and its subsidiaries including its main operating subsidiary, Hughes Network Systems, LLC in a transaction valued at approximately US$2 billion, including Hughes debt expected to be refinanced in connection with the transaction.
