Beretta on W2A anomaly, W2M failure

Eutelsat Communications SA said it’s “premature” to speculate on a potential problem related to the S-band capacity of Eutelsat W2A, and that it expects to receive insurance payment for Eutelsat W2M soon.

Eutelsat W2A’s S-band payload affected by anomaly

Solaris Mobile, the joint venture set up by Eutelsat and SES Astra, announced that in the course of carrying out tests on its S-band satellite capacity aboard Eutelsat W2A, an anomaly has been detected in its performance.

South Korea confirms Unha-2 satellite launch trajectory

South Korean officials said that the Unha-2 rocket recently launched by North Korea did follow a trajectory that was consistent with a satellite launch. Their version of what happened is also slightly different from what has been suspected so far.

Control regained over Astra 5A

Failure of solar array drives doomed Nigcomsat 1

China has promised to replace the failed Nigerian telecommunications satellite Nigcomsat-1 free of charge after it failed after about 18 months in orbit, the China Daily said.

One new Orbcomm satellite lost; problems with others continue

On 19 June 2008, Orbcomm launched its Coast Guard demonstration satellite and five quick-launch satellites. Amidst ongoing troubles with these spacecraft, one of the satellites is now even expected to be a total loss.

CO2 monitoring satellite lost in launch failure

NASA’s Orbiting Carbon Observatory satellite failed to reach orbit after launch aboard a Taurus XL from California’s Vandenberg Air Force Base.
