SES S.A. announced that it is expanding the reach of its satellite-based broadband service Astra2Connect to Africa through a signed agreement with Intersat Africa, a provider of satellite-based Internet services on the continent.

SES World Skies has signed a multi-transponder deal with Artel to help the company meet growing U.S. government demand for end-to-end communications networks throughout Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Intelsat announced contracts with several customers for satellite capacity.

GlobeCast and Eutelsat Communications announced the signature of a three-year contract for two 36 MHz transponders on Eutelsat’s Atlantic Bird 1 and W2A satellites.

Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) announced the delivery of the Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Communication Unit to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in preparation for launch on space shuttle Atlantis, STS-129.

Russian VSAT operators have applied to their country’s Ministry of Communications for permission to use international satellites because of problems with Ekspress AM2 and the lack of a replacement satellite.

PT Indonesian Satellite Corporation Tbk. (Indosat) has inaugurated its Palapa satellites building, which will act as the Earth station for the Palapa D satellite.
