SES Astra said it has renewed contracts with BSkyB (Sky) for 24 transponders on a long-term basis on Astra’s 28.2 degrees East orbital position. In total Sky is using 31 transponders on the Astra satellite system.

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems has provided the communications link for NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) mission launched on 18 June 2009. The mission will use General Dynamics-made transceivers to communicate with ground control as it maps and studies the lunar environment.
