Infineon software-defined-radio technology for SkyTerra, TerreStar

Infineon Technologies, SkyTerra, and TerreStar Networks jointly announced the world’s first multi-standard mobile platform based on Infineon’s software-defined-radio (SDR) technology. SkyTerra and TerreStar are both developing next-generation integrated satellite-terrestrial communications networks.

Government of Canada announces location of Polar Epsilon ground stations

ViaSat awarded broadband gateway contract for Eutelsat’s KA-SAT

ViaSat Inc. has received an US$18 million contract award from Skylogic, the broadband subsidiary of Eutelsat Communications for broadband gateway Earth stations for the previously announced high-capacity KA-SAT Ka-band satellite system.

Eutelsat and GlobeCast renew long-term collaboration

Eutelsat Communications announced that GlobeCast has renewed to 2016 five transponders leased from the Hotbird neighbourhood for broadcasting in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

WildBlue to lease Ka-band capacity from EchoStar

WildBlue and EchoStar Satellite Services, a division of EchoStar Corporation, announced that the two companies have completed an agreement for WildBlue to lease additional Ka band capacity from EchoStar. This additional capacity comes from EchoStar’s currently leased in-space satellites.

RRsat expands TV programming platform via Galaxy 19

MTN Satellite Services contracts for Intelsat capacity

Intelsat, Ltd. announced that Maritime Telecommunications Network (MTN), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SeaMobile, Inc., has contracted for Intelsat capacity to expand the range of satellite-based services MTN provides to its maritime customers, including the world’s largest cruise lines.
