Skylink now uses three Astra transponders

SES Astra announced that the Slovak telecommunications and TV operator Towercom has contracted an additional transponder on Astra’s orbital position 23.5 degrees East in order to launch new HD services.

Arrowhead awarded over 200 MHz in X-band satellite contracts

Arrowhead Global Solutions has announced that it has been awarded two multimillion dollar contracts to provide over 200 MHz of commercial X-band satellite services to two U.S. Government agencies.

Thaicom to extend IPSTAR services to Japan

Thaicom PCL said that a subsidiary had received licences from the Japanese government to provide high-speed Internet services via its IPSTAR satellite from 1 April.

Raytheon completes ground segment test for USAF weather agency

Raytheon Company, Northrop Grumman Corp. and the NPOESS (U.S. National Polar-Orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System) Integrated Program Office recently deployed and successfully demonstrated the ground segment’s interface data processing segment to the Air Force Weather Agency at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.

Intelsat General to provide bandwidth for UAV operations in Afghanistan

Intelsat General Corp. has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract to provide bandwidth to The London Satellite Exchange Ltd., a subsidiary of Astrium Services, itself a unit of European Aeronautic Defence and Space company (EADS), to support unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) surveillance operations in Afghanistan.

TIBA signs agreement with SES New Skies for NSS-806 capacity

SES New Skies announced that TIBA – Telepuerto Internacional Buenos Aires, has signed a new multi-transponder, multi-year agreement for satellite capacity on the NSS-806 satellite at the orbital location of 40.5 degrees West.
