Researchers design metamaterial horn antenna

Cheaper, lighter and more energy-efficient broadband devices on communications satellites may be possible using metamaterials to modify horn antennas, according to engineers from Pennsylvania State University and Lockheed Martin Corp.

Tivuitalia to use Astra capacity for DTT

Boeing tests new Ka-band SATCOM antenna system

Boeing announced that it successfully conducted its first over-the-air ground test of a Ka-band satellite communications (SATCOM) phased-array antenna system that will enable wideband SATCOM on aircraft, providing increased bandwidth for networking in flight.

Albanian Post to use Astra2Connect

SES Astra announced that it will provide the Albanian Post with its satellite broadband service Astra2Connect to offer customers free Internet access in rural areas throughout the country. In addition, Astra2Connect will be used by the Albanian Post for its daily operations.

Astrium to provide communications services to German troops

The German Bundeswehr has awarded a contract to Astrium for space technologies for the delivery of “Welfare Communication Services” to deployed German troops. The multi-million euro contract covers current and future Bundeswehr operations.
