The launch campaign for the tenth Proton mission in 2010 has officially started in Baikonur with the arrival of the SkyTerra 1 spacecraft.

NASA has selected United Launch Services to launch the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution spacecraft known as MAVEN.

Rocket: Soyuz 2-1a/Fregat; Payload: six Globalstar-2 satellites; Date: 19 October 2010, 1711 UTC; Launch Site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The satellites were released into a circular orbit at an altitude of 915 km and an inclination of 52 degrees.

Boeing announced that it has shipped the LightSquared SkyTerra 1, a high-capacity mobile communications satellite, from the company’s integration and test complex in El Segundo to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

Broadband satellite operator Avanti Communications said that the HYLAS 1 satellite has safely arrived at its launch site at the European Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.

Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne received a US$60.3 million contract from NASA to provide continued Space Shuttle Main Engine (SSME) pre-launch, launch and post-launch support through 31 March 2011.

It will possibly take another year until Sea Launch resumes launch activities, the head of the Russian Rocket and Space Corporation Energia said.
