Rocket: Chang Zheng 3C; Payload: Beidou-2 Compass-G1 (Beidou-G1?); Date: 16 January 2010, 1612 UTC; Launch site: Xichang Space Centre, China. The satellite was deployed into geostationary transfer orbit 10 hours later.

Russia will launch two satellites as well as a cargo ship to the International Space Station (ISS) next month from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, the Federal Space Agency said.

China plans to launch the third Beidou navigation satellite into the orbit “in a few days” from the southwestern Xichang Satellite Launch Centre, according to a statement from the centre.

In what might seem rather appropriate weather conditions, the CryoSat-2 Earth Explorer satellite has completed its journey to the Baikonur launch site in Kazakhstan, where it will be prepared for launch on 25 February.
