Rocket: KSLV-1 (Naro 1); Payload: Science Technology Satellite 2 (STSAT-2); Date: 25 August 2009, 0800 UTC; Site: Naro, South Korea. Apart from the officially confirmed fact that the satellite was not placed in its target orbit, it is so far unclear what has happened.

The first launch of Russia’s Soyuz-ST carrier rocket from the Kourou space centre in French Guiana has been scheduled for the beginning of April 2010, Alexander Kirilin, the general director of the Progress design bureau, said.

Rocket: Ariane 5 ECA; Payload: JCSAT-12, Optus-D2; Date: 21 August 2009, 2209 UTC; Site: Kourou, French Guiana. JCSAT-12 was placed into its target orbit approx. 24 minutes after lift-off, followed by Optus-D3 seven minutes later.

South Korea has rescheduled the launch of its KSLV-1 for 25 August at around 0800 UTC, government officials said.

Arianespace’s fourth heavy-lift flight of 2009 has been authorised for its August 21 lift-off following a launch readiness review at the Spaceport in French Guiana.

The latest delay of South Korea’s KSLV-1 (or Naro-1) rocket was caused by a software glitch, government officials said.
