On 30 July 2009, the Universal Rocket Module URM-1 for the prospective Angara family of launch vehicles was successfully test-fired at the Rocket & Space Industry Research & Testing Center near Moscow.

Two sets of experimental satellites were released from space shuttle Endeavour on 30 July.

Boeing announced that it plans to bid as prime contractor for the Exploration Ground Launch Services (EGLS) programme to provide ground systems integration and launch operations for Constellation, NASA’s next-generation space-exploration initiative.

Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) said it successfully completed qualification testing for the Falcon 9 launch vehicle first stage tank and interstage. Testing took place at SpaceX’s Texas Test Site, located just outside of Waco, Texas, USA.

The launch of Russia’s Proton-M vehicle with a Briz-M upper stage and China’s AsiaSat-5 telecommunications satellite from the Baikonur Cosmodrome has been postponed until 19548 UTC on 11 August.

Space shuttle Endeavour undocked from the International Space Station at 1726 UTC today to take photographs of the ISS before final manoeuvres to prepare its return home, concluding the STS-127 mission.
