Northrop Grumman Corporation said it delivered the payload module for the third Advanced Extremely High Frequency (EHF) military communications satellite on 27 February, marking three consecutive early deliveries by the company for the sophisticated flight hardware and software.

The Land Launch Zenit-3SLB system successfully inserted Telesat’s Telstar 11N communications satellite into a geosynchronous transfer orbit from the Zenit launch site at the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan. All systems performed as planned.

Measat Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd announced that it has received confirmation from Intelsat Corporation (which in this case acts as launch services provider) that the Measat-3a satellite has been scheduled for launch in June 2009.

Launch of NASA’s Kepler telescope is targeted for no earlier than 7 March from Pad 17-B at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, USA. There are two launch windows, 0349-0352 UTC and 0413-0416 UTC.

Rocket: Zenit 3-SLB; Payload: Telstar 11N; Date: 26 February 2009, 1830 UTC; Site: Baikonur, Kazakhstan. The first phases of the mission, which was still ongoing at the time of writing, went ahead as planned.

Eutelsat will reportedly exercise an option to have a satellite launched aboard a Chinese Chang Zheng rocket.

Preparations on launch of the Rokot launcher with GOCE gravity satellite continue on schedule at Russia’s northern launch site, Plesetsk Cosmodrome.

North Korea said it was preparing to launch a satellite on a domestically produced rocket. A date for the launch was not given in the statement by the Korea Space Technology Committee published by the official Korean Central News Agency.
