TerreStar Corporation announced that its majority-owned subsidiary TerreStar Networks Inc. and certain other affiliates have filed voluntary petitions for reorganisation under chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code as part of a strategic plan to strengthen their financial position.

Globalstar, Inc. said it has received the necessary approval from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to temporarily operate its recently upgraded satellite gateway ground stations in Sebring, Florida, and Clifton, Texas.

ESA’s SMOS mission has been bugged by patches of interference from radar, TV and radio transmissions in what should be a protected band. Painstaking efforts to reduce these unwanted signals are now paying off, the agency said.

Iridium Communications Inc. announced that it has signed a confidential settlement agreement with Motorola, Inc. that resolves all disputed matters in the lawsuit filed by Motorola in February 2010 against two Iridium subsidiaries.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has fined Hawthorne, California-based Space Exploration Technologies, Inc. US$45,600 for violating hazardous waste requirements of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.

The United Arab Emirates’ Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) granted Al Yah Advanced Satellite Communications Services a ten-year satellite services license, and Star Satellite Communications Company a ten-year satellite and broadcasting services license, both effective as of 8 July 2010.

ICO Global Communications (Holdings) Limited announced that it received an unfavourable ruling in the judicial review proceedings that it initiated against Ofcom, the British telecommunications regulatory authority.

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware has approved the Sea Launch Plan of Reorganisation. Sea Launch Company LLC filed the Plan on 10 May in preparation for its emergence from Chapter 11.
