U.S. export control system to be reviewed

U.S. President Obama is directing the National Security Council and the National Economic Council to undertake a comprehensive review of the U.S. export control system, which include restrictions on the export of U.S. commercial communications satellites.

U.S. clears ALSAT launch on PSLV

The U.S. has allowed ISRO to launch two Algerian satellites having U.S. components using an Indian launch vehicle following a Technical Safeguards Agreement (TSA) that was recently signed by the two countries.

Design Bureau Khimavtomatika transferred to Khrunichev

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev accepted the Government’s offer to transfer 100 percent of the federally-owned shares of the Voronezh-based open joint stock company “Konstruktorskoe Buro Khimavtomatiky” (OSC KBKhA) to the state-run research and production Khrunichev Space Center (KhSC).

ProtoStar crashes to bankruptcy over slot row

ProtoStar Ltd. filed for bankruptcy protection along with five affiliates and said it was looking to sell its satellites. It was revealed that the company had earlier this year been forced to shut down one of its spacecraft because of a dispute over the geostationary slot it uses.

India, U.S. sign technology safeguards agreement
