According to the 24th edition of Euroconsult’s report, Satellite Communications & Broadcasting Markets Survey, due to be published later in September, the FSS industry is in the midst of unprecedented change, with the dramatic downsizing of traditional pricing leading to decreasing revenues for many in the sector and the possibility of major restructuring or consolidation on the horizon.

The Space Foundation has released the findings of its publication The Space Report 2017: The Authoritative Guide to Global Space Activity.

The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) has released its 2017 State of the Satellite Industry Report. The report shows continued growth in the overall industry with global satellite revenues increasing by two percent during 2016 to just over US$260 billion.

According to Euroconsult’s newly released research report, Government Space Programs: Benchmarks, Profiles & Forecasts to 2026, global space budgets totalled US$62.2 billion in 2016, down 2% from the previous year. Governments launched 75 satellites, less than the historical peak of 2015 but in line with the last five year average.

NSR said its Satellite Operator Financial Analysis, 7th Edition, finds in an industry fraught with falling prices and indebted behemoths, satellite operators are playing a more aggressive game to find growth.

According to a new report published by Allied Market Research, titled, “Small Satellite Market – Global Opportunity Analysis and Industry Forecast, 2014 – 2022,” the global small satellite market is expected to reach US$7,179 million by 2022, registering a CAGR of 19.8% from 2016 to 2022.

According to Euroconsult’s soon-to-be-released report, SatCom for Defense and Security: Strategic Issues and Forecasts, global military demand for commercial satellite capacity has fallen by an estimated 20% from a peak of 12.5 GHz in 2011 following tremendous growth over the previous decade, due in large part to lower usage of the U.S. DoD.

According to Euroconsult’s newly-published report, FSS Operators: Benchmarks & Performance Review, FSS industry revenues declined by 7% in 2015 and have continued to deteriorate through the first half of 2016.
