NSR’s Satellite Capacity Pricing Index, second Edition (Q4 2016), released today, finds satellite capacity pricing in a prolonged freefall for most applications as more supply comes online and HTS offerings proliferate.

According to the 19th edition of the report Satellites to be Built & Launched (over the next ten years), Euroconsult anticipates that 145 satellites with launch mass over 50 kg will be launched on average each year by 2025 for government agencies and commercial organisations worldwide. When including satellites smaller than 50 kg and the two mega constellations of OneWeb and SpaceX, the total would grow precipitously to 9,000 units (vs. 1,480 launched in the past ten years).

NSR’s Satellite-Based Earth Observation (EO), 8th Edition report projects data, value-added services, information products, and big data analytics from satellite-based EO to represent a US$43 billion opportunity over the next decade.

According to Euroconsult’s latest report, Trends & Prospects for Emerging Space Programs, 24 countries are identified as emerging space programmes (ESPs) in 2015 having launched a total of 69 satellites in the last 20 years.

With demand for Earth imagery increasing, manufacturers are expected to produce some 1,935 remote sensing satellites over the next 10 years, according to Forecast International.

The Space Foundation has released the findings of its publication “The Space Report 2016: The Authoritative Guide to Global Space Activity.”

Teal Group space analysts have identified 5,095 satellites, probes and capsules to be built and launched to Earth or deep space orbits between 2016 and 2035. They estimate the value of these space payloads at more than US$245 billion.

NSR’s Satellite Manufacturing and Launch Services, 6th Edition report identifies non-GEO markets as the leading growth opportunities for manufacturing and launch in the next ten years, with expected cumulative revenue generation exceeding US$175 billion of the US$285 billion total market.
