HTS capacity lease revenues surpass $1 billion in 2015

According to Euroconsult’s latest report, High Throughput Satellites: Vertical Market Analysis & Forecasts, High Throughput Satellites (HTS) have continued their proliferation since late 2014 as over 20 new systems were ordered, including an eight satellite expansion order by O3b.

SES TV channels grow 11.3% in 2015

SES S.A. announced the transmission of a record number of TV channels on board its satellite fleet as of 31 December 2015. SES’s TV channel count grew by 11.3% to 7,268 channels during 2015, compared with an overall growth of 2% for the rest of the industry.

2% revenue growth for commercial FSS operators at mid-year 2015

NSR’s 14th edition of the VSAT & Broadband Satellite Markets report forecasts the entire broadband satellite market to add 8.4 million new sites and generate US$13.6 billion U.S. in total revenue by 2024. With both Enterprise VSAT and Trunking/Backhaul remaining increasingly lucrative via HTS supply, North America will lead a two-thirds growth in Consumer Broadband Access.
