Polar Broadband Ltd., the company that plans to use Russia’s stranded Express-AM4 satellite for providing communications services to the Antarctic, said it was not aware of an official decision by Russian authorities to de-orbit the spacecraft.

Russia plans to deorbit the Ekspress AM4 telecommunications satellite next week. The spacecraft was stranded in a useless orbit last August owing to a failure of its launcher’s upper stage.
