NASA’ s associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate, John Grunsfeld, has named former veteran NASA programme manager Orlando Figueroa to lead a newly established Mars Program Planning Group (MPPG) tasked to reformulate the agency’s Mars Exploration Program. MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. announced that it has signed a contract for C$4.2 million with Earth Video Camera Inc. The auxiliary mirrors that focus the light from the primary mirror into the science instruments on NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope have been integrated into the aft-optics subsystem (AOS) by Northrop Grumman Corporation teammate Ball Aerospace and are ready for the next level of testing.

Thales Alenia Space today signed a contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) to supply Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) satellites for Eumetsat, the European meteorological satellite organisation. Thales Alenia Space is prime contractor for this large-scale programme, in partnership with German company OHB. Clyde Space has been awarded funding for two advanced space technology development projects. The projects are joint developments; the first with the Advanced Space Concepts Laboratory at University of Strathclyde and the second with Mars Space Ltd in Southampton.
