Thailand’s Information and Communication Technology Ministry (ICT) has given Thaicom PCL the go-ahead to launch a new satellite, Thaicom 6, a government official was quoted as saying.

Space shuttle Endeavour’s re-rendezvous with the space station for the Sensor Test for Orion Relative-navigation Risk Mitigation, or STORRM, was completed as planned. The orbital rendezvous verified the successful operation of the MPCV’s next generation docking sensor, which NASA has identified as a critical technology needed for future space exploration missions.

NASA has selected Fibertek, Inc. of Herndon, Virginia, to design, develop, fabricate, test and deliver laser systems to be used for the Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) mission scheduled to launch in 2016.

NASA plans to launch a spacecraft to an asteroid in 2016 and use a robotic arm to pluck samples. The mission, called Origins-Spectral Interpretation-Resource Identification-Security-Regolith Explorer, or OSIRIS-REx, will be the first U.S. mission to carry samples from an asteroid back to Earth.
