Orbcomm Inc. announced Orbcomm Inc. and OHB System AG entered into an agreement to build and launch two AIS (Automatic Identification System) enabled satellites.

Following recovery from a glitch that prevented ESA’s GOCE gravity mission from sending any scientific data to the ground, the satellite has been gently brought back down to its operational altitude and resumed normal service – delivering the most detailed gravity data to date.

Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL), in partnership with the University of Surrey’s Surrey Research Park, is taking a new technical facility opposite its headquarters building in Guildford, UK, providing the flexibility to work on a broader range of satellites and the capacity to integrate and test more satellites in parallel.

The Raytheon Company team developing the next-generation Global Positioning System (GPS) Advanced Control Segment (OCX) successfully completed on schedule an integrated baseline review with the U.S. Air Force.

During the Satellite Users Interference Reduction Group (SUIRG) annual conference from 28 to 30 September in San Francisco, Thales Alenia Space and Zodiac Data Systems are announcing that they plan to team up on solutions for the monitoring of satellite transmissions and protection against interference, whether intentional or not.

Integral Systems, Inc. announced that it has been awarded a sole source contract from an unnamed satellite communications service provider to expand its existing satellite fleet control system to support four Boeing 702 satellites already in orbit.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has controlled the orbit of the First Quasi-Zenith Satellite “Michibiki” to insert it into the quasi-zenith orbit from the drift orbit starting on 21 September (Japan Standard Time, JST), and the final orbit control operation was performed for about 50 seconds on 27 September.
