NASA has announced the award of the Poly Picosatellite Orbital Deployers, or P-POD, service contract to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California.

Cryocoolers built by Northrop Grumman Corporation for satellite applications have recently accumulated over 100 years of flawless on-orbit performance.

The NASA National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) Preparatory Project (NPP) climate/weather satellite has successfully completed its Pre-Environmental Review (PER) at Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp’s production and test facility in Boulder, Colorado, and will begin flight environmental testing in the upcoming weeks.

NASA on behalf of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has awarded a sole source contract for the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS-1) spacecraft to Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. This is a fixed price contract of US$248 million with a performance period through 1 February 2015.

Thales Alenia Space announced tri-partite contracts with Russian Space Communications Company (RSCC) and ISS-Reshetnev to supply the Ekspress AM8, AT1 and AT2 communications satellite payloads.

ISS-Reshetnev said it has achieved significant milestones in testing the Amos-5 telecommunications satellite being built for the Israeli service provider Space Communication Ltd.
