Two from Toulouse

Two satellites have left the Astrium facilities in Toulouse and are on their way to French Guyana. Launch of Arabsat 5A and COMS-1 aboard an Ariane 5 ECA from there is scheduled for the end of April.

Paradigm, UK Ministry of Defence agree on Skynet 5D

Paradigm, a wholly owned subsidiary of Astrium Services, has signed a contract with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) to extend and enhance the Skynet 5 private finance initiative (PFI) programme. This will involve the manufacture, launch, test and operation of a fourth satellite, Skynet 5D, and the extension of the Skynet 5 contract by two years until 2022.

GOES-P healthy after launch

Boeing has received the first on-orbit signals from the third Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) built by Boeing for NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Roskosmos blames UK company for Kanopus delay

A Roskosmos official has blamed Surrey Satellite Technology Limited for a delay in the construction of the Kanopus-V N1 Earth observation spacecraft.

Boeing transfers U.S. portions of ISS to NASA

Boeing last Friday officially turned over the U.S. on-orbit segment of the International Space Station (ISS) to NASA with the signing of government form DD-250 at the conclusion of an Acceptance Review Board meeting in Houston.

CGWIC signs LaoSat-1 communications satellite contract

China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), China Asia-Pacific Mobile Communications Satellite Company Limited (APMT) and Laos National Authority for Science and Technology (NAST) under Prime Minister’s Office PDR, recently signed the Contract for Lao Satellite Broadcasting and Telecommunication System Construction (LAOSAT-1).
