The European Space Agency ESA and the Alphabus Joint Project Team successfully completed the Qualification Review of one of the world’s largest yet lightest satellite tanks ever built, a new generation of bi-propellant tanks.

Final tests for second ATV

“Johannes Kepler,” the second unmanned European cargo spacecraft for the International Space Station (ISS), is currently undergoing its first flightworthiness and functionality tests as a fully integrated unit at the Astrium facility in Bremen, Germany.

SBIRS programme passes two more milestones

The U.S. Air Force/Lockheed Martin team developing the Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS) programme has achieved two key milestones: a testing milestone demonstrating that the ground system is on track to support launch of the first SBIRS geosynchronous (GEO-1) satellite in the constellation, and a maturity milestone moving the ground system into the next level of integration.

Update: NOAA deactivates GOES-10 after 12 years of tracking storms

Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) announced that the GOES 10 satellite that it built for the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) was retired after serving the organisation for 12 years, more than twice its required mission life.

SES Astra awarded second contract for Egnos
