Update: NOAA deactivates GOES-10 after 12 years of tracking storms

Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) announced that the GOES 10 satellite that it built for the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) was retired after serving the organisation for 12 years, more than twice its required mission life.
