U.S. Air Force awards United Launch Alliance WGS-4 satellite launch

The U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center recently awarded United Launch Alliance a contract modification to perform the launch services for the Wideband Global SATCOM-4 (WGS-4) satellite aboard a Delta IV Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle.

Vinasat 2 makes progress

PARASOL has left the “A-Train”

After nearly five years of concurrent operations with the Afternoon Constellation, known as the “A-Train,” the PARASOL satellite is going on another orbit “track.” The A-Train includes a number of NASA satellites that orbit the Earth one behind the other on the same track.

Critical Design Reviews completed for SBIRS payload programme

The U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center’s Space Based Infrared Systems Wing announced the successful completion of critical design reviews for the SBIRS Follow-On Production (SFP) programme for the Highly Elliptical Orbit and Geosynchronous payloads.

Herschel instrument to start operations after glitch

The Heterodyne Instrument for the Far Infrared, HIFI, aboard ESA’s Herschel satellite is about to start science operations. It was switched off temporarily after an anomaly was registered last year before the instrument could begin formal scientific work.
