The accompanying satellite of the Shenzhou-7 orbital module has accomplished its primary mission after 100 days in space, the Beijing Aerospace Control Center (BACC) said according to Xinhua news agency.

Development of China’s regional navsat system slightly delayed

Chinese state media said the country would launch more Beidou satellites in 2009. The completion of the planned regional navigation system appears to be delayed by a year or so, though.

Update: Small GEO programme moves forward with contract-signing

Spanish satellite operator Hispasat said it has signed a contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) for the supply, launch and operation of the Hispasat AG1 satellite to be used in the Small GEO mission.

Inmarsat prepares for satellite relocation

Preparations are nearing completion for the entry into commercial service on 7 January 2009 of the new Inmarsat-4 (I-4) satellite covering North and South America and the subsequent repositioning of two other Inmarsat spacecraft.

Testing of first GPS IIF satellite continues

The U.S. Air Force said its Global Positioning Systems Wing declared the first GPS IIF satellite had successfully passed Spacecraft Thermal Vacuum Testing at Boeing’s Spacecraft Development Center in El Segundo, California/USA.

Telespazio wins Gokturk contract

Telespazio, a Finmeccanica/Thales company, has won a tender as prime contractor, supported by Thales Alenia Space, from the Turkish Ministry of Defence for the Gokturk satellite system.
