Hispasat receives award for best regional operator 2007

Hispasat said in a statement it was recently awarded the prize for “Excellence in Satellite Management 2007″ in the category of regional operator of the year, within the events organised for the 11th World Summit for Satellite Financing.

Galileo’s future more uncertain than ever

The European Commission is to propose on 19 September where the EUR2.4 billion shortfall in funding for the Galileo GPS satellite system will come from. Meanwhile, Eutelsat has offered to manage the navigation system’s space segment.

Progress M-60 to do science before being deorbited

The Russian Progress M-60 cargo spacecraft will undock from the International Space Station (ISS) on 19 September and spend five days in independent flight before leaving orbit and re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere.

UAE announces timeline for Dubaisat-1

The Emirates Institute for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST) announced that it will launch the United Arab Emirates’ first satellite, the Earth observation spacecraft DubaiSat-1, in 2008 — with a little help from South Korea and Russia.
