Flight computer likely botched YES2 tether deployment

Contrary to early indications, the Fotino experiment aboard the student-built YES2 satellite may have been successful… in a way. New analysis has shown that the spacecraft fully deployed a 31.7-km tether, but not as planned.

ESA, Inmarsat agree on AlphaSat

Inmarsat said that its principal operating subsidiary, Inmarsat Global, has entered into an agreement with the European Space Agency (ESA) to become the commercial operator for the AlphaSat project.

Last DSP satellite first to be launched by Delta IV Heavy

The 23rd and final Defense Support Program (DSP) satellite, built by Northrop Grumman Corporation for the U.S. Air Force, is scheduled for launch on 11 November (UTC) from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Launch Complex 37.

ATK selects avionics contractor for Ares I first stage
