Galileo signal reflections used for monitoring waves and weather at sea

Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) and the University of Surrey have succeeded for the first time in capturing a Galileo signal reflected off the ocean surface in orbit, demonstrating the potential for determining the weather at sea with remote sensing satellites.

WorldView-1 starts taking images for NGA

DigitalGlobe announced that WorldView-1 has completed its commissioning, meets all of its requirements, and is delivering imagery to the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) as part of the NextView programme.

Electrical testing of Ekspress-AM33 has begun

A joint team of NPO PM and Thales Alenia Space has started electrical testing of the Ekspress-AM33 satellite being developed under the contract of Roskosmos, the Russian information and communications ministry and Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC).

Galileo tender rules modified to appease Germany

Sea Launch: next try on Sunday

An attempt to launch a Zenit 3SL rocket with the Thuraya 3 communications satellite on board will be made on 25 November from a floating platform in the Pacific Ocean, Sea Launch said.
