Ulysses mission to end on 1 July

Ariane 5 launches Skynet 5C and Turksat 3A

Commercial satellite industry revenues grew 16 percent in 2007

The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) has released its 2008 State of the Satellite Industry Report, showing a 16 percent growth in global revenues for the commercial satellite industry. World-wide revenues in 2007 were US$123 billion, representing an average annual growth of 11.5 percent for the period from 2002-2007.

TVB to use Hotbird 9 for Chinese TV platform

Television Broadcasts Ltd (TVB) of Hong Kong, one of the world’s largest producers and distributors of Chinese programmes, has selected capacity on the Eurobird 9 satellite operated by Eutelsat Communications to launch its new multi-channel digital platform of Chinese-language channels for satellite homes across Europe.

TDRS receives data from Japan’s Daichi EO satellite

JAXA carried out a communication experiment with the University of Alaska last month successfully sending observation data from the Daichi satellite to the NASA White Sands Test Facility via the U.S. TDRS-10 data relay satellite. It was the world’s first data transmission test of this kind.

TerreStar buys spectrum from EchoStar and Harbinger

TerreStar Corporation announced that it has enhanced its U.S.-wide spectrum footprint by obtaining, through separate transactions, certain 1.4 GHz spectrum licenses held by EchoStar Corporation and CCTV Wireless I, LLC (CCTV).

Second AEHF satellite receives payload module

Lockheed Martin announced that it has successfully mated the spacecraft core structure and the payload module for the second Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) military communications satellite.
