The Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) F-18 Block 5D-3 spacecraft, built under contract for the U.S. Air Force by Lockheed Martin, is undergoing final preparation for a launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base on 18 October 2009.

Boeing said today it has been informed by the U.S. Air Force that the second Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellite began supporting the U.S. military on 18 August.
