Ares I-X test flight successful

NASA’s Ares I-X test rocket lifted off at 1530 UTC on 28 October from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida for a two-minute powered flight. The test flight lasted about six minutes from its launch from the newly-modified Launch Complex 39B until splash down of the rocket’s booster stage nearly 240 km down range.

JWST’s Optical Telescope Element passes CDR

The telescope element of NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), built by Northrop Grumman Corporation, has successfully passed a critical design review verifying it will perform as designed, and now moves forward to final manufacturing steps and integration of all subsystems.

Common pattern found in MRO safe mode events

NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter is still in safe mode, but the ongoing investigations into the probe’s recent troubles have identified a pattern that was common to the incidents.
